A chapel service was held on Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Georgia L. Smith, 71, of Hughson. She died Dec. 18, 2007 at her home.
Born Dec. 28, 1935 in Wister, Okla., to George and Gertrude Smith, Georgia attended schools in Modesto and was a student at Ceres High School. She was described as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her home was always open to family and friends. She and her husband Marion lived in Hughson while their children attended school and then lived in Modesto from 1976 to 2003 when they returned back to Hughson. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Sovereign Grace Community Church of Hughson.
She leaves behind her children, Gwinda Quigley of Hughson, and Duane Smith of Ceres; her brothers, Donald Hicks of Hughson, Jerry Hicks of Valley Springs, Roger and Micheal Hicks of Missouri; and grandchildren, Christopher Quigley and Justin Quigley of Hughson, Taylor Smith of Ceres and Corrie Randall of Ceres. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Marion "Smitty" Smith; her parents and nephew Alan Hicks.
