A funeral service was held Friday at Allen Mortuary for Hazel May Loring, 91, of Turlock. She died Jan. 28, 2010 at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Hazel was born in July 1918 in Mendota, Illinois to Bert and Nellie Belle McCormick Chandler. She married Arthur Loring in June of 1935 in Illinois. They were married 59 years before he passed away in 1994. In her early years Hazel worked for the DMV and enjoyed being a housewife. She enjoyed square dancing with the Ceres Twisters where she made many longtime friends. Mrs. Loring enjoyed spending time at her cabin near Bear Valley, fishing at Lake Alpine, and spending winters in Arizona with friends. She lived in Modesto until moving to Turlock in 1999.

She leaves behind two daughters: Karen Loring of Sacramento and Sherry Wagner of Turlock; two sisters and a brother: Ruth, Dorothy, and Eldon Chandler; her grandchildren, Debbie Vierhus of Coalinga, Cheryl Fondse of Ripon, Laurie Metzker of Elk Grove, Mike Immoos and Brian Immoos, both of Elk Grove; her great-grandchildren Kristin Cornelsen of Fresno, Holly Amson of Fresno, Stefanie Vierhus of Coalinga, and Desiray Immoos of Elk Grove; and one great-great-granddaughter, Madelynn Amson.
