Private services were held for Hilda Walter Kleim, 93, Modesto. She died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, after a brief illness.

Born July 19, 1915 in Brush, Colo., as one of 13 children of Henry and Catherine Walter, Hilda was raised in Sanger. For 25 years she was married to Frederick "Bud" Fischer who gave her four children. She was then married to Edward "Eddie" Kleim in 1960 until his death in 1983. Hilda lived in Modesto for 49 years. She and her husband Eddie moved into Ralston Towers in 1976. She was a homemaker while her husband Eddie owned and operated Hughson Sand and Gravel. An avid reader, Hilda enjoyed trips to Hawaii, gambling in Reno and watching NASCAR racing and San Francisco Giants games. Mrs. Kleim belonged to the Modesto Elks Club.

She leaved behind two children, Dennis Fischer and Shelley Breckenridge; her stepsons, Melvin Kleim and Frank Kleim; her grandchildren, Mark Fischer, Tracey Kerr, Curt Greening, Elisha De Long, Dwayne Fischer, Marsha Hockensmith, Darcey Lederle, Craig Breckenridge, Brian Breckenridge, Charmaine Cooper, Ryan Fischer and Caitlin Fischer; and 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by husband Eddie Kleim, children Ron Fischer and Sheila Greening, all her siblings, and grandson Mike Fischer.
