A graveside service was held Friday at Lakewood Memorial Park for James Arne Olsen, 82, of Ripon. He died Nov. 23, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

A memorial service was held at Hughson United Methodist Church.

Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born Nov. 30, 1924, Mr. Olsen was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, having served in the South Pacific. Later in life, he volunteered at Inner Faith Ministries, was a member of Hughson United Methodist Church. Mr. Olsen was a past master of Mt. Oso Masonic Lodge #460 and a past partron of the 32nd degree Scottish RIte. He also belonged to the Joaquin Chapter OES and was a member of Dermitt Chapter, American Legion.

His favorite pastimes were reading, being with his grandchildren and singing.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Irene Olsen of Ripon; his daughter, Marlene Coonce of Ripon; his brother, Charles Olsen of Turlock; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lawrence and Matthew Bailey; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Lawrence and Samantha Lawrence. He was preceded in death by son Stephen Olsen and sisters June Amery and Joan Southern.
