Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, in Turlock, for Jerry Don Brackett, 66, of Turlock. The former Ceres resident died this month at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb 14th at the LDS Church at 4300 Geer Road in Turlock. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born June 1941, Mr. Brackett was born in Harrison, Ark., and lived in Turlock for more than 46 years. He attended schools in Ceres, graduating from Ceres High School. He was a carpenter by trade belonging to Local Union 25. Mr. Brackett retired after working for several years of employment with Acme Construction of Modesto. He belonged to the National Rifle Association, Old Fishermen's Club and Modesto Ridge Runners Dune Buggy Club. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Turlock, 1st Ward. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to spend time at his Idaho home. Jerry enjoyed his dune buggy trips to Pismo Beach, Bridgeport and Hawthorne, Nev.

He leaves behind his wife, Penny Brackett of Turlock; his children, Derrek Brackett and Marlene Brackett; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Dean Brackett and Helen Pauline Brackett, an infant brother and daughter Suzette Brackett.
