A funeral services was held Monday at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home for Jimmie Ray Lovett, 66, of Turlock. The former Ceres resident died March 10, 2012.

Born July 10, 1945 to Eldon and Stella Lovett in Modesto, Jimmie was raised in Ceres and graduated from Ceres High School in 1963. After his first job working at Hershey Chocolate factory in Oakdale, Mr. Lovett joined the Ceres Police Department as a reserve officer for two years. He then transferred to the Stanislaus County Sherriff Department where he was a deputy for 15 years. Jimmie was a resident of Turlock for more than 35 years, where he opened The Leather Tree Shoe Repair. He managed the shop for several years before turning the shop over to his wife, Kayla, to work as an instructor and counselor for the California Department of Corrections. He retired from the state job in 2001. Jimmie enjoyed working on old cars with friends, going to yard sales, watching Johm Wayne movies and spending time with family.

He leaves behind his three daughters, Paula Twiss, Pamela Daleth and Tracy Childres; three stepchildren: Laura Badgley, Nina Saldubehere and Ethan Saldubehere; and 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Kayla Lovett, parents Eldon and Stella Lovett, and brothers Jack and Dean Lovett.
