A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, for Joan Theresa Thompson Casey, 66, of Waterford. She died July 23, 2010.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.

Born March 11, 1944 in San Francisco to Elsa O'Neill and Mark Thompson, Joan was raised in Vallejo. While attending Sacramento State, she was introduced to her husband Patrick Casey; they were married for 42 years. Mrs. Casey volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, PTA officer, room mother, YLI member, Tri-W member, classroom volunteer, and raised five children. For 12 years, during summer months, she and Patrick raised and sold sweet corn at the Modesto Farmers' Market. Starting in 1976, Joan was a volunteer office helper at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Religious Education Program in Hughson. After being hired and spending 20 years as Director of Religious Education, Joan retired in 2005. Joan enjoyed art, finding joy in watercolor painting, and rediscovering her love of sketching.

She leaves behind her husband, Patrick Casey; five children, Tim Casey of Modesto, Meagan Thomasson of Grass Valley, Neil Casey of Oakdale, Chris Casey of Oklahoma and Mary Casey of Las Vegas; and her brother Michael Thompson of Las Vegas; her granchildren, Stephen Casey, Donna Casey and Katherine Casey, Ethan Thomasson, William Thomasson and Trey Thomasson, Breanna Morgan, Paige Morgan, Alan Casey, Jaylynn Casey, C.J. Casey, Breanna Casey, and Skyler Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents.
