A memorial service was held at Saturday at Geneva Presbyterian Church for John David Young, 85, of Modesto. She died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center.

Burial was private at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.

Born April 17, 1920, Mr. Young was a native of San Francisco and lived in Modesto for 58 years. He was a switchboard repairman for Pacific Telephone for 40 years. Mr. Young was a member of Ceres Masonic Lodge 532 where he was a past lodge master. He also belonged to Order of the Eastern Star, Ceres Chapter 296. Mr. Young was a member of the Sons in Retirement Society, Branch 144. He enjoyed stamp collecting and golf. Mr. Young was a member of Geneva Presbyterian Church. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He leaves behnd his wife, Ruth Lillian Young of Modesto; two children, Jo Anne Bojorques of Sanger and Peggy Larimer of Manteca; and six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren.
