A funeral service was held Monday at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home for Joseph Pimentel, 88, of Modesto. He died June 15, 2011 at HyLond Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.
Born July 9, 1922 in Hughson to Manuel and Isabel Pimentel, Joseph lived in Stanislaus County for most of his almost 89 years, most recently in Oakdale and then Riverbank. He worked for Shady Lawn Farms and Gambini Farms for many years and also had a love for animals and gardening. He proudly served in the Army during World War II. While living in Riverbank, Mr. Pimentel was a faithful member of Riverbank Assembly of God.
He leaves behind his wife of eight years, Joyce Hartsfield; three children, Pamela Bettencourt of Chowchilla, Sandra Qualls of Mountain View, Ark,. and Gregory Gomes of Texas; seven granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Norma Jean Pimentel.
