A funeral Mass was held Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Josephine Cipponeri, 96, of Hughson. She died June 2, 2011.
Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born June 20, 1914 to Vincenzo and Angela Aleo in Detroit, Mich., Josephine was raised in Italy, where she met the love of her life, Sebastiano Cipponeri. They moved out to California in 1953 where they raised seven children. She enjoyed spending time with friends, gardening and bowling.
She leaves behind five children, Lena Occhino, Joe Cipponeri, Mary Miceli, Christine Verdone, and Vince Cipponeri; her sister, Giovanna Gravagne of Modesto; and 23 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 1995 by husband Sebastiano Cipponeri, daughter Angela Cipponeri, son Peter Cipponeri, and grandchildren Vince Occhino and Linda Badal.
