A funeral was held Friday at Turlock Funeral Home Chapel for Juan Garcia Lopez, 74, of Ceres. He died Dec. 4, 2007 surrounded by his family.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born June 24, 1933, Mr. Lopez was a native of Piedras Negras Coahila, Mexico. He was a member of the CEM church in San Jose. Mr. Lopez enjoyed fishing, growing nopales and fruit trees, watching baseball and boxing, reading the Bible and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Lopez was involved in the Royal Rangers youth group and would go on camping trips and other activities. He enjoyed traveling and spreading the word of the Lord.

He leaves behind his wife, Rosario Lopez of Ceres; his daughters, Marisela Lopez, Janie Lopez, Gregoria Barrera and Yolanda Confer, all of San Jose, and Rosie Talamante of Turlock; three step sons, David Lopez and Hugo Lugo both of Texas, and Carlos Lugo of Riverbank; two step daughters, Eva Lopez-Matola of San Diego and Irene Baltazar of Ceres; four brothers, Julian Lopez of Ceres, and Joe Lopez , Ernie Lopez and Albino Lopez, all of Modesto; four sisters, April Hernandez, Rosie Quesnot, Eloisa Delgado and Terry Rodrigues, all of Modesto; and eight grandchildren.
