A Celebration of Life was held Jan. 16 at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church for Katherine "Kathy" M. Narbona, 46, of Ceres. She died Jan. 10, 2010.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Born March 24, 1963 at Glasgow Air Force Base in Montana, Kathy moved with her famiy to Oregon and Kansas before settling in Daly City, when she was two. She attended San Francisco Junior Academy, PUC Preparatory School, and received a bachelor of music in Music Education/Piano Pedagogy and a bachelor's degree in French from Pacific Union College in 1988. After teaching for three years at PUC Prep, she obtained a master's degree of Music in Choral Conducting from Northern Arizona University in 1992. Throughout her musical career, Kathy has taught all grades from kindergarten to community college. In 2008 she created the Modesto Boys Choir which sang at the last two Community Hospice Tree Lighting ceremonies at Memorial Medical Center, and for the 2009 International Day of the Child at Gallo Center for the Arts. In addition to being an accomplished pianist, flutist and singer, Kathy could converse in French, Spanish and Italian. Mrs. Narbona had a passion for people and for life in general.

She leaves behind her husband of 24 years, David Narbona of Ceres; her son, Michael Narbona of Ceres; her brothers, Phil, Jr. and John; and her parents, Phil and Pacita Ainsworth.
