A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home for Lee Capron Andrus, 88, of Stanislaus County. He died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Oct. 28, 1915, Mr. Andrus was a native of Clinton, British Columbia, Canada, and lived in Stanislaus County for 56 years. He was a welder at R.J. Reynolds for 56 years. Mr. Andrus was a member of the Hughson Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years and was a former commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7762 in Hughson.

He leaves behind eight children, Ruby Edelman and Thomas Andrus, both of Turlock, Michael Andrus of Rancho Cucamonga, Penny Deaver of Ceres, Emma Perry of Arizona, Towanda Welch of Waterford, and Rosemary Brasher and Myra Crowe, both of Washington; and 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Andrus; and son Stanley Andrus.
