Lonnie Douglas “Doug” Nester

March 10, 1948 - March 7, 2022

Doug Nester was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma in 1948. He moved to California with his family as a child. He lived and attended school in Keyes, and went to work in the construction business as a sheetrock hanger, framer and finisher.

Doug was a man of many talents. He could draw anything he looked at with precision. If something was broken, he could fix it and if he didn’t have the tool to do so, he would invent one. He lived by his life’s motto that was passed onto him by his father, “Can’t never could.” He was a determined, strong, and sentimental man. He loved fishing and could out-fish nearly anyone. He looked forward to his weekly fishing trips with his best friend, Carl Horner. Doug even built and designed his own fishing poles, delicately carving and threading each piece with love.

Doug had a deep connection to animals, he raised chickens, built an aviary for birds and kept beautiful fish in exotic tanks of his own design. He enjoyed watching old westerns, science fiction, and fantasy movies and he loved music.

Doug leaves behind his brother, Thomas Nester; his two loving children, Scott and Lisa Nester and his four grandchildren, Cheyenne, Halie, Jacob, and Fiona.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Nester, his mother, Leota Nester, his brother, Dallas Nester and his sister, Jonnie Douglas.

Doug will be deeply missed by many.
