A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 505 W. Granger Ave. in Modesto, for Lydia Marie Robillard, 90, of Ripon. The former Hughson resident died Aug. 7, 2009 at Bethany Home in Ripon.

Interment will be private under the arrangements of Franklin and Downs Funeral Home.

Born July 23, 1919 in Hughson to Charles and Amelia Genzoli, Lydia grew up working on the family farm during the Depression. She attended Hughson Elementary School and Hughson High School before going on to study at Modesto Junior College. After graduating from San Jose State, her first teaching assignment was at Keyes Elementary School. As a young woman, she loved tumbling and gymnastics and performed at the Swiss Picnic, which is where she met her husband of 48 years, Fred Robillard. From 1943 to 1945, she served in the Navy and attained the rank of Radioman Second Class working as a WAVE. Upon her return from Naval Air Station, San Diego, she taught 27 years at John C. Fremont Elementary in Modesto as a third-grade teacher. Mrs. Robilliard enjoyed traveling in the United States and overseas, and loved to fish, camp and hike. Mrs. Robilliard was active in Our Lady of Fatima Young Ladies' Institute and other charitable organizations.

She leaves behind her children, Kathleen Crichton of Indianapolis, Ind., and Denis Robillard of Turlock; four grandchildren, Mark Crichton of Springfield, N.J., Alicia Boisvert of Olympia, Wash., Andrew Robillard of Atascadero, and Collin Robillard of Modesto; and great-granddaughter Olive Lydia Boisvert, of Olympia, Wash. She was preceded in death by husband Fred Robillard in 1993, parents Charles and Amelia Genzoli, brothers Arlen Genzoli and Tilden Genzoli, and sisters Evelyn Poletti and Doris Mays.
