A memorial service was held Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hughson for Maria De La Cruz Arana, 57, of Ceres. She died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Evins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born May 3, 1948, Mrs. Arana was a native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and lived in Ceres for 34 years. She was a cannery worker for 14 years. Mrs. Arana was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Hughson Kingdom Hall. She enjoyed walking her dog.

Mrs. Arana leaves behind her son, Isaac Galindo of K Bay, Hawaii; four brothers, Rodolfo Arana, Ramiro Arana, Santiago Arana and Roberto Arana, all of Mexico; three sisters, Maria Arana and Carmen Arana, both of Mexico, and Lupe Gonzalez of Modesto. She was preceded in death by her parents.
