A memorial service was held Tuesday at Cunningham's Affordable Burial & Cremation Centers for Michael Edward Brown, 57, of Ceres. He died of cirrhosis of the liver Monday, March 15, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Born June 6, 1946, Mr. Brown was a native of Modesto and lived in Ceres for one year. He previously lived in Groveland for seven years and Oakdale for 10 years. Mr. Brown was a facilities care engineer at Dairy Farmers of America Dairy in Hughson. He was a 1964 graduate of Modesto High School and attended Modesto Junior College. Mr. Brown was a Navy veteran, serving in Okinawa for four years. He enjoyed camping, water skiing and making iron ornaments.

He leaves behind his companion and caregiver, Kerry Keesler of Ceres; two children, Kevin Brown of Oakdale and Dan Brown of Sonora; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenifer Noel Brown.
