A Mass was held at noon Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Miguel Amaya Jr., 80, of Keyes. He died Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was charge of burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 29, 1924, Mr. Amaya was a native of Clint, Texas, and had lived in Keyes since 1975. He was a rancher on the Howard Adams Ranch. Mr. Amaya was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres. He was a veteran of the Mexican army, serving for two years.

Mr. Amaya leaves behind his wife, Guadalupe P. Amaya of Keyes; eight children, Martha Olivera and Carlos Amaya, both of Keyes, Sylvia Cordova of San Agustin, Mexico, Sandra Amaya of Merced, Maria Estrada of Riverbank, and Lupe Matlock, Rudy Amaya and Mario Amaya, all of Delhi; his sister, Chavela Rodriguez of Guadalupe, Chihuahua, Mexico; and 38 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Miguel Angel Amaya and Saul Amaya.
