Private funeral services were held for Orlie H. Anderson, 91, of Hughson. He died June 1, 2009.

Born May 27, 1918, Orlie was born on a farm near Newman Grove, Neb., and remained on the farm until the late 1930s. He worked several jobs during the later years of the Depression, traveling as far as Tacoma, Wash., seeking permanent employment. In 1942 he began employment with Trans World Airlines (TWA) and worked in several east coast cities including Washington, D.C. Chester, Pa., New York City and Dover, Dela., before landing in the Kansas City, Mo. area. He lived there for 30 years and was a maintenance supervisor when he retired in 1982. Orlie enjoyed airplanes, cars, travel, and watching his favorite sports team, the Kansas Jayhawks.

He leaves behind his stepson, Benny Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; his son, Jeffrey Anderson of Hughson; five grand-hildren and several great-grandchildren. One brother, Russell Anderson, is living in Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Juanita Anderson, in 2004, stepson Jerry Anderson, and daughter Jennifer Anderson Orlie.
