A private graveside service is scheduled for Pearl Wells, 86, of Ceres. She passed away peacefully at Hale Aloha Convalescent Hospital in Ceres, on Sept. 9, 2012, surrounded by family.

Born on Dec. 6, 1925 in Tucson, Arizona. Pearl lived in Ceres for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and was well-known in the community for over 50 years as a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, as a Ceres High School Band parent,and as a volunteer at the community based Well-Baby Clinic. She was a member of the Salvation Army League of Mercy, and coordinated the Salvation Army Women's League activities for many years. She was a sponsor and supporter of Heifer International and Job's Daughters Bethel #171.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Diane Mortensen of Visalia and Barbara Wells of Modesto, and two grandchildren, Meghan Mortensen of San Francisco and Taylor Lankford of Turlock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Roscoe K. Wells, who passed away on August 11, 2012, her parents John Townsend and Mildred Townsend, her brother Amos Townsend, and her grandson Ross Thomas Wells Mortensen.
