A funeral Mass was held Thursday St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Richard Camagna, 68, of Hughson. He died Jan. 25, 2009 after a brief hospitalization in Modesto.

The Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Oct. 28, 1940, Mr. Camagna was a lifelong resident of Hughson where he was a third-generation farmer. Richard farmed with his father and his brother Raymond. He graduated from Hughson High School and took classes at Modesto Junior College. Richard served in the National Guard where he was a sergeant. Mr. Camagna served as a Hughson Fire Department volunteer firefighter for 19 years and served on the Hughson Fire District Board of Directors for 18 years. He enjoyed hunting for mushrooms in the hills with his brother and friends, growing vegetables, reading history books, and solving jigsaw puzzles.

He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Tess Camagna of Hughson; his children, John Camagna, Sarah Jeske and Peter Camagna; his brother, Raymond Jeske; three sisters, Yvonne Jones, Janet Camagna and Annette Stransky; and five grandchildren, Alex Camagna, Nicholas Camagna, Victor Camagna, Olivia Jeske and Phoebe Jeske. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Phoebe Camagna Sr.
