A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Modesto for Sally Mendoza Koehn, 74, of Redding. She died March 19, 2010 at her home in Redding.
Born Nov. 9, 1935 in Independence, Kansas to Antonio and Francisca Mendoza, Sally graduated from Independence High School in 1954 and Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., in 1960 with a degree in education. She married Ray Koehn in 1961. Mrs. Koehn taught elementary school in Kansas for 18 years before the family moved to Modesto in 1976. She taught at Tuolumne Elementary School in South Modesto and Catherine Everett Elementary School for 25 years before retiring.
She leaves behind her husband, Ray Koehn of Redding; her son, Michael Koehn; her brother, Manuel Mendoza; her sister, Cora Alcontar; and three grandchildren, Ryan Koehn, Elysia King and Emily King. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
