A funeral was held Tuesday at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Sarah Jane Elgin Fore-Smallwood, 88, of Riverbank. She died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 20, 1917, Mrs. Fore-Smallwood was a native of Little Rock, Ark., and had lived in Riverbank since 1957. She worked at local convalescent homes and canneries and also worked in Christmas tree sales.
Mrs. Fore-Smallwood leaves behind five children, Arvin Fore and Earl Fore, both of Riverbank, Lavada Harrell and Ricky Fore, both of Ceres, and Helen Farley of Kansas; five stepchildren, Ronald C. Smallwood of Ceres, Leon Smallwood of Empire, Allen Smallwood and Vickie Winchester, both of Modesto, and Chris Moss of Richmond, Va.; her brother, Raymond Elgin of Holtville; her sister, Opal Brown of Cabot, Ark.; and 18 grandchildren, 14 stepgrandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 24 stepgreat-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
