Vera Ibarra

A Mass was held Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Vera Vasquez Ibarra, 81, of Modesto. She died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 at Modesto Convalescent Hospital.

Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. The Colonial Chapel of Franklin Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Nov. 8, 1922, Mrs. Ibarra was a native of Del Rey, Fresno County, and lived in Riverbank and Modesto for 68 years. She graduated from Oakdale High School in 1941. Mrs. Ibarra was a medical translator for numerous doctors in Modesto, and also was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She once served as PTA president at Tuolumne Elementary School just outside of Ceres. Mrs. Ibarra enjoyed traveling and sewing.

She leaves behind five children, Barbara Keyani of Santa Barbara, Richard Ibarra of Thousand Oaks, Michael Ibarra of Oakland, and Ed Ibarra and Ralph Ibarra, both of Modesto; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Ibarra.
