A graveside service was held Friday at Ceres Memorial Park for Wanda Jean Austin Shook, 75. She died peacefully on Aug. 6, 1936 surrounded by family after a year long battle with cancer.

Born May 27, 2012 in Bakersfield to William and Lela Austin, Wanda grew up in Ceres. She worked at the original Old Mill Cafe and in later years lived in Nevada. She collected movies and enjoyed going to the casinos. She was a kind and compassionate person who loved a good joke and to laugh.

She leaves behind two children, Randy St. Cin and Nancy St. Cin; two brothers, Harrison Austin and Phillip Austin; and three grand children, Bradley St. Cin, Kenneth St. Cin and Theresa Gesell. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louella Malone and husband Jack Shook.

Remembrances may be sent to Community Hospice.
