A graveside service was held Tuesday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella for William Raymond Benedict, 75, of Turlock. He died Aug. 7, 2004 at Emanuel Medical Center.
Allen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Born Sept. 11, 1928, Mr. Benedict was a native of Detroit and moved to the Bay Area in 1968. He worked for AC Transit for 20 years. Mr. Benedict later moved to Modesto, where he lived for two years before settling in Turlock a year ago. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1949-53.
He leaves behind two daughters, Linda Benedict and Marie Benedict, both of New York; his sister, Betty Bruce of Ceres; his brother, Clifton Benedict of Oregon; and three grandchildren.
