DUI checkpoint delayed many, was wasteful of gas

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Friday night's DUI checkpoint on Mitchell Road had traffic backed up from River Road (which was closed) all the way to Finch Road. I'm sure the cannery workers who were headed home from Finch were angry at waiting 45 minutes to get to Hatch and drive home. If 300 people had to wait 45 minutes it would equal 225 man hours of wasted time sitting in traffic. Don't forget all the gas that was used in the idling and stop-n-go for 45 minutes.

Can't Chief Art de Werk do better than that?
