Much to celebrate over cat treatment

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Ceres is celebrating National Feral Cat Day on Oct. 16 and on Oct. 19 with a "Kitty Tea Party" that will be held at Harvest Presbyterian Church, 1813 Moffet Road, Ceres. Ticket donation is $10. Call Karen (809-5406) or Linda (988-8613). Raffle and silent auction included. All proceeds will support Cat Network of Stanislaus County's "T/N/R" Spay and Neuter Clinic for cats. Please join us for tea, fruit, tea sandwiches and dessert, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. We will have trap/neuter return information available.

This year we have a lot to celebrate. The Stanislaus County Animal Shelter has become a T/N/R shelter. T/N/R focusses on reducing the number of cats being born in the community, which means no kittens being born. The shelter and T/N/R team have trapped, neutered/spayed and returned almost 1,000 cats since June 1. Last year they did a pilot program in Ceres that spayed/neutered almost 500 cats from the city of Ceres.

Our local shelter is reducing their euthanasia rates of cats because of the T/N/R program.

If you are interested in learning more about T/N/R, or joining our T/N/R team, come join us at the Kitty Tea Party and help us celebrate all the lives we are saving and the taxpayer's money.

Karen Mosser,
Ceres
