CHS band, guard captures honors in Madera show

Ceres High School Band and Guard proved how hard work pays off at the Heart of California Tournament of Champions Western Band Association Competition in Madera on Saturday. Members not only brought home first place award in Single A division, but brought home four more captions -- High Music, High General Effects, High Visual and High Auxiliary.

Under the direction of first-year band director Kristen Pallas, the band and guard have brought home this season two first-place trophies, a third place trophy, three music caption wins, two visual caption wins, one caption win in auxiliary and one caption win in general effect.

The public is invited to check out the Ceres High and Central Valley high schools' bands and guards at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 for a Field Show at the CHS Football Stadium.

From there, the Ceres High School Band and Guard will be competing in the Western Band Association Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Koligian Stadium in Fresno.
