The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim team wrapped up the 2011 season this past weekend.

Ceres placed fifth at the Mid Valley Swim League championships on Saturday in Oakdale.

The Dolphins racked up 551.5 points at the eight-team event.

Ceres finished ahead of the Oakdale Swim Team (280), Turlock Marlins (77.5) and Modesto-Stanislaus Sharks (32).

The Ripon Sea Lions (1,073.5), Turlock Sea Dogs (988.5), Tracy Tritons (752.5) and Manteca Dolphins (628.5) took first, second, third and fourth, respectively.

"We scored almost 600 points, which is good," head coach Tracy Bull said. "As a team, we did great. I'm a little disappointed we didn't win any of the relays."

Cassandra Guevara, (17-18 girls), Haley Fisicaro (15-16 girls) and Ricardo Cano (9-10 boys) were awarded High-Point trophies for their individual success at the MVSL meet.

Guevara won the 100 IM, 50 fly and 50 free.

"She refused to lose," Bull said. "She whooped everybody."

Fisicaro swept the 100 free, 50 free and 50 fly. Haley suffered just one loss (25-1) this year.

"She came pretty close to an unbeaten season," Bull said. "In my opinion, she's the most talented swimmer in the league."

Cano, a first-year swimmer, took first in the 100 IM, 50 fly and 50 free. Ricardo compiled a 27-1 record this summer.

"That's pretty amazing," Bull said.

Diego Armas (6&under boys) finished second in the High-Point standings. He set personal records in the 25 back, 25 free and 50 free.

"It's exciting to see the success he's had the second half of the season," Bull said.

Zachary Jones (15-16 boys) set personal records in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast.

Julia Pata (11-12 girls) and Jadyn Shinn (9-10 girls) set personal marks in the 50 free and 100 free, respectively.

"We're producing a lot of great swimmers," Bull said.
