The Ceres High boys golf team competed at the Atwater Invitational at Stevinson Ranch on Monday. The Bulldogs took 15th in a field of 25 with a 74-over-par 434.
Sheldon won the team title with a 28-over 388. Liberty finished second at 394. Lodi placed third at 395.
"We just didn't play very good," said Ceres coach Butch Mendonca. "We were a little rusty."
Mendonca had his players practice on their own time during Easter vacation. There was a 10-day break between Ceres' last match and the Atwater tournament.
Nick Wilcox tied for 10th with a 6-over 78. The junior had three birdies.
"He would have finished in the top five if he didn't take a triple bogey on the last hole," Mendonca said.
Ben Martinez, Chad Jantz and Adam Dusi all shot an 88.
Jeff Warn shot a 92.
