Bulldog, Hawk track and field athletes fall short at WAC finals

Ceres High's and Central Valley's varsity track and field programs had a combined 39 athletes fall short in their quest to secure individual berths to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV-V Championships.

The top three placers in each event at the Western Athletic Conference Championships advanced to Divisionals.

Ceres High boys track and field members Marcellus Boykins, Donavon Guiriba, Cordell Dennis, Blake Borba, Ryan Wolf, Trevor Nash, David Murrillo, Gabriel Heredia, Myron Sichanpheng, Roman Acosta, Clayton Elness, Louis Thomas and Samuel Garcia competed for the final time as individuals this season on May 12 at Golden Valley High School in Merced.

Boykins placed fourth in the triple jump (42-1).

Guiriba placed fifth in the pole vault (9-6).

Dennis placed fifth in the 100 (11.95) and sixth in the high jump (5-6).

Borba placed eighth in the 400 (55.48).

Wolf placed sixth in the shot put (42-7) and 11th in the discus (100-0).

Nash placed sixth in the triple jump (41-4).

Murrillo placed sixth in the 1,600 (5:03.46) and seventh in the 800 (2:18.42).

Heredia placed sixth in the 110 hurdles (18.98) and eighth in the 300 hurdles (52.21).

Sichanpheng placed eighth in the triple jump (39-51/2).

Acosta placed eighth in the 1,600 (5:04.79) and ninth in the 3,200 (11:49.10).

Elness placed 12th in the shot put (35-11) and 16th in the discus (85-10).

Thomas placed 13th in the high jump (4-10).

Garcia placed 14th in the 200 (25.39).

Ceres High girls member Destiny Suarez, placed fourth in the 1,600 (6:19.01) and sixth in the 800 (2:55.07).

Yasmine Cordova placed fifth in the 400 (1:09.66).

Haleigh Leazer placed sixth in the 1,600 (6:20.35).

Yarisleidi Rodriguez placed sixth in the shot put (27-8).

Kendall Meyer placed sixth in the high jump (4-6) and 10th in the long jump (13-5).

Maria Diaz placed ninth in the 1,600 (6:51.70).

Destiny Adams placed ninth in the 200 (30.20).

Alyssa Stiles placed ninth in the long jump (13-10).

Saray Gonzalez placed ninth in the discus (70-3).

Monica Cummins placed 10th in the shot put (67-10).

Courtney Adams placed 12th in the 200 (31.22).

Kerina Martinez placed 12th in the 100 (15.07) and 14th in the 200 (31.24).

Adriana Ortega placed 15th in the shot put (24-4).

Central Valley's Darian Robinson placed fourth in the shot put (29-5) and eighth in the discus (72-5).

Natalia Guzman placed seventh in the discus (74-9) and 12th in the shot put (25-9).

Megan Suarez placed ninth in the 400 (1:16.2), and 16th in the 200 (33.29) and 100 (16.00).

Rocio Villasenor placed 10th in the 100 hurdles (21.27), 13th in the long jump (11-8) and 15th in the 100 (15.85).

Alexa Arvizu placed 11th in the 800 (3:07.95) and 14th in the 1,600 (7:12.14).

Central Valley boys member Andres Rojo placed fifth in the 400 (53.97).

Estevan Barragan placed seventh in the 100 (12.12) and eighth in the 200 (24.68).

Josh Sidhu placed 12th in the 200 (25.31) and 15th in the 100 (12.52).

David Fajardo placed 14th in the 800 (2:48.57) and 17th in the 1,600 (6:08.05).

Diego Andrade placed 18th in the 100 (13.26) and 200 (27.25)

Jairo Martinez-Perez placed 16th in the 200 (26.17)

Jamie Villa placed 14th in the 400 (1:03.13) and 20th in the discus (69-1).

Raquesh Hernandez placed 13th in the shot put (35-6) and 14th in the discus (90-8).
