Ceres High's varsity baseball team dropped to 8-14 overall and remained in last place in the Western Athletic Conference after getting swept by Pacheco this past week.

The Panthers (11-5-1, 6-2) moved into a tie for second in the WAC standings with Livingston.

Ceres High pounded seven hits during Thursday's 12-3 loss at Pacheco.

Michael Aveytia and Efrain Brito both batted 1-for-2 from the plate with one run.

Cesar Alvarez and Joe Valenzuela each batted 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Brock DeWitt batted 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Austin Schmidt singled.

Adrian Magdaleno started at pitcher.

He yielded one run and four hits with six strikeouts and four walks in five innings.

Relief pitcher Isaiah Alcorn gave up one run and one hit with one strikeout and three walks.

Visiting Pacheco edged Ceres High 4-3 on April 23 at Art McRae Field.

Ceres High will face crosstown-rival Central Valley (7-16-1, 1-7) during the final week of the WAC season.

The Bulldogs will compete against the Hawks on the road tomorrow at 4 p.m.
