Bulldogs, Hawks complete shortened season

The members of Ceres High’s and Central Valley’s swim programs closed out the COVID-19-shortened season earlier this month.

Ceres High swept host Lathrop on April 1.

The Bulldogs dominated the girls competition, 100-55.

Ceres High compiled a 6-1 record on its way to a tie for second place in the Western Athletic Conference’s overall standings.

“They really stepped it up,” Bulldogs’ head coach Kayla Himmist said.

Ally Feld placed first in the 200 IM (2:44.67) and 100 breast (1:25.03).

Katie Hensley placed first in the 500 free (6:21.18) and 100 back (1:20.80).

Allison McAdams placed first in the 50 free (27.83) and 100 free (1:01.07).

Reagan Hensley placed second in the 100 fly (1:31.94) and 100 back (1:29.26).

Haille Degg placed second in the 200 free (2:41.36) and third in the 100 breast (1:35.09).

Andrea Contreras placed second in the 200 IM (3:09.87) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:42.50).

Jewell Stahl placed third in the 100 fly (1:41.36).

Emily Bringhazi placed third in the 100 back (1:37.68) and fourth in the 200 free (3:08).

Jazzmin Suarez placed third in the 50 free (31.22) and fourth in the 100 free (1:13.37).

Berlin Kahl placed fourth in the 50 free (39.15).

Denise Hinojosa placed fourth in the 100 fly (1:58.70).

Liset Renteria placed fifth in the 100 free (1:38.25).

Ceres High’s 200 medley relay team of Katie Hensley, Ally Feld, Andrea Contreras and Allison McAdams placed first (2:22.97).

Ceres High’s 200 medley relay team of Reagan Hensley, Haille Degg, Jewell Stahl and Jazzmin Suarez placed second (2:35.74).

Ceres High’s 200 free relay team of Degg, Stahl, Contreras and Reagan Hensley placed second (2:11.17).

Ceres High’s 200 free relay team of Denise Hinojosa, Liset Renteria, Berlin Kahl and Emily Bringhazi placed third (2:34.89).

Ceres High’s 400 free relay team of Suarez, Feld, McAdams and Katie Hensley placed first (4:22).

The Bulldogs won the boys dual, 48-40.

Ceres High managed to finish in sixth place in the WAC (3-4) this season despite competing with a thin roster.

“I saw a lot of improvement,” Himmist said. 

Ryan Baranski placed first in the 50 free and 100 free.

Cruz Fee placed first in the 200 IM.

Nick Campbell placed second in the 50 free and 100 free.

Kenny Arroyo placed fourth in the 50 free.

Central Valley’s girls team dropped its WAC finale, 121-31, to Mountain House on April 1 in Ceres.

The Hawks amassed an 0-6 record against conference opponents.

Noemi Delahoya placed second in the 100 free and third in the 50 free.

Colum Lundeen placed second in the 100 back and fifth in the 50 free.

Leslie Bobadilla placed third in the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 free.

Jenny Medina placed third in the 100 free and fourth in the 50 free.

Savannah Gomez placed fifth in the 100 back.

Central Valley’s 200 free relay team of Yadira Rios, Jenny Medina, Leslie Bobadilla and Naomi Delahoya placed second.

Central Valley’s 400 free relay team of Bobadilla, Rios, Mejia and Delahoya placed second.

Central Valley’s boys team lost 107-6 to Mountain House.

The Hawks went 0-6.

Justin Alvarez placed third in the 50 free and 100 free.
