Ceres High boys tennis team finishes regular season with perfect 24-0 record

Ceres High School's varsity boys tennis team put the finishing touches on a perfect regular season last week.

The Bulldogs won twice and improved to 24-0 on the year.

Ceres High captured its fourth consecutive Western Athletic Conference crown-third straight with a perfect 12-0 record. The Bulldogs have reeled off 42 straight wins in WAC play dating back to the 2012 season.

Ceres High, which has an astounding 103-5 overall record over the past four seasons, qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs for the sixth year in a row.

"We're looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the playoffs," Bulldogs head coach Bryan Harden said.

Ceres High routed visiting Livingston 9-0 on Thursday.

Nolan McCaig bested Sal Cortes 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Julio Ochoa bested Alex Mercado 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles play.

Chase Harden bested Angel Ramirez 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 singles play.

Rene Cortes bested Kevin Castro 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles play.

Bruno de la Torre bested Enrique Medina 6-0, 6-4 in No. 5 singles play.

Manuel Lozcano bested Sam Redmon 6-2, 6-4 in No. 6 singles play.

Juan Jimenez and Dennis Phommalinh bested Diego Jimenez and Emmanuel Jimenez 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles play.

Jorge Ruiz and Julian Rodriguez bested Licheal Leo and Edgar Salas 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 doubles play.

Alex Torres and Charles Lo bested Cristian Solorio and Alejandro Aguilar 6-1, 6-1 in No. 3 doubles play.

Ceres High improved its all-time record versus crosstown-rival Central Valley to 18-0 with a 7-2 road win on April 21.

McCaig bested Luis Hernandez 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Ochoa bested Alexis Villa 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 singles play.

Harden bested Edgar Castillo 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Cortes bested Eric Morales 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.

Jimenez and Phommalinh bested Nimrat Chahal and Jorge Bustos 7-5, 6-4 in No. 1 doubles play.

Ruiz and Rodriguez bested Julio Pena and Henry Garcia 6-1, 7-5 in No. 2 doubles play.

Lozcano and Torres bested Navjot Kanda and Roman Ortiz 6-2, 6-4 in No. 3 doubles play.

Jose Ortega lost 7-5, 6-0 to Ruben Morales in No. 5 singles play.

Bruno de la Torre lost 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 to Brandyn Weis in No. 6 singles play.

The Division-III playoff tournament will feature programs from the WAC, Valley Oak League and Tri-County Conference. First-round matches will be staged on May 5.
