Ceres High boys, girls cruise past Beyer

Ceres High’s varsity track and field program defended its home stadium while competing against Western Athletic Conference-newcomer Beyer last week.

“We got the results we hoped for,” head coach Brett Johnson said.

Ceres High’s girls team improved to 1-1 in the WAC dual-meet standings with a 93-30 win over Beyer on Wednesday at Bulldog Stadium.

“I had it a lot closer on paper,” Johnson said. 

Azar Harrison swept the 200, 400 and 800.

Mya Robinson placed first in the high jump.

Mercedez Wood placed first in the shot put.

Destiny Suarez placed first in the 1,600 and second in the 800.

Allison Stiles placed first in the 100 and second in the 200.

Gabby Soto placed first in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles.

Catryna Marquez placed second in the 400.

Jacqueline Rodriguez placed second in the 1,600.

Andrea Contreras placed third in the 800.

The Bulldogs’ 4x100 relay team placed first.

The Bulldogs’ 4x400 relay team placed first.

Ceres High’s boys team improved to 1-1 in the WAC following its 82-49 victory against Beyer.

“They performed well today,” Johnson said. “They did what they’re coached to do.”

Daniel Yepez swept the 300hurdles and 110 hurdles.

Isaac Vizcaino placed first in the 800 and second in the 1,600.

Samar Singh placed second in the 300 hurdles.

Fabian Amparo and Fernando Cardoza tied for second in the 3,200.

Bryan Erenas placed second in the 200 and third in the 100.

Luis Yepez placed second in the 400 and third in the 200.

Nicholas Dunn placed second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles.

Gonzalo Rivera placed second in the 800 and third in the 1,600.

Aaron Alarcon placed third in the 800.
