Ceres High's varsity boys soccer team beat host Los Banos and lost to visiting Patterson in Western Athletic Conference play this past week.

The fifth-place Bulldogs topped last-place Los Banos for the second time this season, 5-2, on Jan. 30.

Ceres High won the first meeting, 2-0, at home.

"We were superior this time," head coach Danny Barragan said. "We created a bunch of scoring opportunities."

Andres Madriz tallied three goals during the rematch.

Christian Martinez had one goal and one assist.
Saul Ruiz scored once.

Fourth-place Patterson edged Ceres High 2-1 on Thursday at Bulldog Stadium.

The Bulldogs lost 3-2 to the Tigers earlier this season.

"We're pretty even teams," Barragan said. "Mistakes cost us both times. That's how they scored their goals."

Daniel Yepez accounted for Ceres High's lone goal last week.

Martinez collected the assist.

The Bulldogs dropped to 4-13-3 on the year and 2-5-1 in the WAC standings.

"The talent is there," Barragan said. "We make simple mistakes and other teams know how to take advantage."

Ceres High's final two conference opponents are Livingston and Pacheco.
