Ceres High’s boys soccer team improved to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference after winning a pair of games this past week.

The Bulldogs rolled to an 11-1 victory over the Beyer Patriots on Dec. 10 in Modesto.

Isaac Arana led Ceres High with two goals and three assists.

Enrique Murillo tallied two goals and two assists.

Antonio Medina and Julio Larranaga both collected one goal and two assists.

Eduardo Savala, Chuy Vega, Gilbert Zamora, Noah Zamora and Mario Valadez all had one goal.

Alfredo Toledo made one save at goalkeeper.

Ceres High shut out Lathrop 6-0 on Dec. 8 at CUSD Stadium.

Arana netted two goals and dished out one assist.

Murillo and Nicholas Vieyra each had two goals

Noah Zamora had one assist.


Hawks begin CCC play

Central Valley’s boys soccer team moved to 7-3-2 on the season and 1-1-0 in Central California Conference play after securing a split this past week.

The Hawks topped the Golden Valley Cougars 5-0 on Dec. 8 in Ceres.

Isaiah Castillo led Central Valley with two goals and one assist.

Fernando Cano had two goals.

Abel Calvo had one goal.

Arturo Munoz had one assist.

Gael Navarro had three saves.

Central Valley lost 2-1 to El Capitan on Dec. 10 in Merced.

Calvo accounted for the Hawks’ lone goal.

Anthony Lopez had one assist.

Navarro had two saves.

The Gauchos outscored the Hawks 2-1 during the second half.


GIRLS SOCCER

Ceres High’s girls soccer team played six games in a six-day span earlier this month.

The Bulldogs dropped to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference after sustaining a 3-2 loss at Lathrop on Dec. 8.

Yaresli Lopez and Arianna Diaz both scored once in defeat.

Kristina Corbin collected one assist.

Ceres High cruised to a 7-0 win against host Pacheco on Dec. 6.

Lopez and Corbin led the Bulldogs with two goals apiece.

Ceres High won two of four games at the Dec. 3-4 Hughson Tournament.

The Bulldogs split with the Los Banos Tigers.

Ceres High blanked Los Banos 5-0 on Dec. 4 and lost 4-1 to the Tigers on Dec. 3.

The Bulldogs edged the Hughson Huskies 3-2 on Dec. 3 and lost 5-0 to Merced on Dec. 4.


Hawks beaten

Central Valley’s girls soccer team dropped to 5-4 on the season and 0-2 in the Central California Conference last week.

The Hawks opened CCC play with a 3-1 loss versus the Golden Valley Cougars on Dec. 8 in Merced.

Ally Singh accounted for Central Valley’s lone goal.

The Hawks suffered a 2-1 loss while battling the El Capitan Gauchos on Dec. 10 in Ceres.
