Ceres High School's varsity girls tennis team knocked off El Capitan and Livingston in Western Athletic Conference play last week.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in league after defeating newcomer El Capitan 8-1 on Thursday in Merced.

"We have steadily improved over the course of the year," Ceres High head coach Jack Jacques said. "We haven't taken any backwards steps."

Ceres High won all three doubles and five of six doubles matches versus the Gauchos.

Stephanie Garcia and Chelsea Heras beat Fate Villas and Meghana Medini 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in No. 1 doubles play.

Andria Esho and Dominique Koeurn beat Carrie Wee and Eleanor Nelson 6-3, 6-3 in No. 2 doubles play.

Geneba Revuelta and Sabrina Yang beat Amanda Daraphet and Callie Neal 6-4, 7-5 in No. 3 doubles play.

Angelica Slater beat Eloisa Encenzo 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles play.

Gabriella Blandino beat Dana Villarama 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play.

Janet Jimenez beat Eimine Dela Cruz 6-4, 6-2 in No. 3 singles play.

Bianca DeAnda beat Vanna Barcellos 6-3, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.

Jolyce Vega beat Alaika Valera 7-5, 6-3 in No. 6 singles play.

Ceres High topped host Livingston 5-4 on Sept. 16.

The Bulldogs won four of six singles and one of three doubles matches against the Wolves.

Heras and Jalani Blankenship beat Jenny Garcia and Christine Gallardo 7-5, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles play. The victory secured the team win for Ceres High.

Slater beat Karina Ramos 6-0, 6-3 in No. 1 singles play.

Blandino beat Elisa Armenta 6-3, 6-4 in No. 2 singles play.

Jimenez beat Jasdeep Bassi 6-3, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

DeAnda beat Cynthia Frias 6-3, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.
