Zachary Jones, Erik Weststeyn, Bobby Baranski, Caleb Bishop, Tristan Freitas-Scott, Julia Pata, Ciana Sather, Kiera Brownlee, Taylore Bentley, Lindsey Reedy and Kaitlyn Foster represented Ceres High School's swim program at the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships earlier this month in Lodi.

"It was a good experience for the younger kids," Bulldogs coach Sue Garcia said. "There's a lot of talent in our section."

Jones competed at the section meet for the fourth year in a row.

Zachary placed 19th with a personal-best time of 22.42 seconds in the 50 free during varsity boys trials on May 15. He took 28th in the 100 free (49.55).

"When he got out of the pool, it was apparent he gave everything he had in his races," Garcia said. "He was happy. He enjoyed himself."

Jones finished 27th in both the 50 free and 100 free at the section competition his junior year.

"Zach's always impressed me," Garcia said. "It's going to be hard to fill his shoes in the years to come."

Ceres High's 400-free relay team of Freitas-Scott, Baranski, Weststeyn and Jones placed 30th (3:38.51).

Ceres High's 200-medley relay team of Bishop (back), Jones (breast), Weststeyn (fly) and Baranski (free) placed 40th (1:54.90).

Pata and Sather both competed in individual events at the frosh-soph girls level for the second straight season.

Julia placed fifth in the 100 free (55.58) and 13th in the 200 free (2:01.56) in the finals on May 16. She set personal records in each race.

"It's amazing what she did because she doesn't swim year-round," Garcia said. "She's definitely a special talent. She has an incredible work ethic."

Pata placed seventh in the 100 free and 17th in the 50 free in 2014.

Sather was disqualified in the prelims of the 100 fly on May 14 because she wasn't able to complete the race.

Ciana placed 44th in the event last year.

"She choked on some water eight yards away from the finish," Garcia said.

Ceres High's 400-free relay team of Sather, Pata, Brownlee and Reedy placed 19th (4:11.18).

Ceres High's 200-free relay team of Pata, Sather, Brownlee and Bentley placed 25th (1:51.24).

Ceres High's 200 medley relay team of Foster, Brownlee, Sather and Bentley placed 35th (2:11.26).
