Ceres High School's varsity wrestling team didn't face much of a challenge during its Western Athletic Conference season-opening dual match.

The Bulldogs pummeled visiting Patterson, 58-7, Wednesday evening at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

"We're in our league schedule now," Ceres High head coach Steve Festa said. "I was pleasantly surprised with how we dominated that match. They participated in our tournament earlier this season. They have the best wrestler in the league in Daniel Cota."

Ceres High improved to 1-0 in the WAC.

The Tigers dropped to 0-1 in league standings.

"We're working hard," Festa said. "We're getting better every single day. It's about what we do. The wins will come if we wrestle the way we're supposed to."

Ceres High's Spencer Nelson, Brandon Ramirez, Rudy Gonzales, John Alba and Luis Camarillo were all victorious by fall.

Nelson won by pin (0:16) versus Justin Gonzales at 160 pounds.
