Central Valley’s Kalli Hoffman and Ceres High’s Marissa Renteria, Madeline Schultz, Emily Esparza, Nehemiah Valenzuela and Maria Bravo earned invitations to play for the Blue Team in the First Annual Merced County Girls Flag Football All-Star Game.
“I’m super proud of my girls,” Bulldogs’ leader Curtis Hulstine said. “It’s going to be fun watching them compete on the field again. They’ll get to showcase their skills.”
Hulstine will serve as the Blue Team’s offensive coordinator.
“I got a call and they asked if I wanted to help coach,” he said. “I jumped on the opportunity. I didn’t want to miss out on a chance to coach the girls again. I know what we’re bringing.”
Hoffman will be sidelined with an arm injury sustained this past winter.
She dislocated her left elbow during the wrestling season.
Hoffman will have surgery in the near future.
“Just to get an invite is awesome,” she said. “I was planning on playing with the injury. But I thought it would be safer if I didn’t.”
The Merced County Girls Flag Football All-Star Game will be staged at Golden Valley High School this Saturday. Kickoff slated for 5 p.m.
