Central Valley's varsity softball team evened its record at 2-2 versus Western Athletic Conference competition this past week.

The Hawks improved to 6-6 on the year after escaping with a 2-1 win over the Pacheco Panthers on April 11 in Ceres.

Central Valley sophomore pitcher Scarlett Lloyd had nine strikeouts.

She limited Pacheco to just three hits

"I'm not surprised with what she's been able to do," head coach Regina Selfridge said. "She's talented. She works hard to perfect her craft."

Outfielders Elizabeth Robinson and Angelina Knights, and third baseman Brianna Quiroz all made diving catches on defense.

Central Valley pounded 11 hits on offense.

Quiroz batted 3-for-3 from the plate.

Lloyd and Nayeli Pelayo both batted 2-for-3.

Vanessa Oliver batted 2-for-4.

Gabby Benanati batted 1-for-2.

Robinson batted 1-for-3.

The Hawks scored both of their runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Patterson rallied for a 3-2 victory against host Central Valley on April 10.

The Tigers scored all three of their runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Hawks stranded two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth inning.

"We made the mistake of not pushing harder to earn more runs early on," Selfridge said. "We will not make that mistake again."

Central Valley lost to Patterson despite collecting eight hits on offense.

Nayeli Pelayo batted 2-for-3.

Quiroz batted 2-for-4.

Arianna Muniz batted 1-for-2.
