CV girls pile up victories

Central Valley High School's varsity girls basketball team opened the 2015-16 season with a disappointing 69-43 loss at Beyer on Nov. 28.

The Hawks won four of five games this past week.

Central Valley captured the consolation title at the Dec. 3-5 Golden Valley Tournament.

The Hawks closed out the tourney with a 49-44 win over the Bears of Merced on Dec. 5.

Central Valley had three players score in double figures, including Adriana Haynes (13), Adria Robinson (12) and Rosie Duarte (10).

Central Valley edged El Capitan 46-44 in overtime on Dec. 4.
Alyssa Costa led the way with 17 points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist.

Central Valley dropped its tournament opener 48-41 to Buhach Colony on Dec. 3.

Robinson paced the Hawks with eight points, seven rebounds and one assist.

Central Valley topped Grace Davis 62-45 on Dec. 1 in Modesto.

Costa poured in a career-high 26 points, to go along with nine rebounds, three steals and one assist.

Haynes had 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Mikayla Mabie added 10 points, 10 assists and five steals.

Central Valley routed Pitman 50-30 during their CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Foundation Game matchup on Nov. 30 in Ceres.

Mabie filled the stat sheet with 13 points, nine assists, six steals and five rebounds.
