Central Valley's junior-varsity boys basketball team pulled away for a 50-43 win over host Ceres High in Western Athletic Conference play on Jan. 24.

The crosstown rematch was decided in the final minute.

Manuel Sarabia's putback gave the Hawks a two-point lead with 4 seconds to play.

Central Valley escaped with a 55-53 home victory on Feb. 9 as Ceres High's Ryan Ashby missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.

"I just got the rebound and went back up," Sarabia said. "I was in the perfect place at the perfect time."

Sarabia totaled four points against the last-place Bulldogs (1-9).

Kadin Manor led the third-place Hawks (6-4) in scoring with 20 points.

Phoenix Jackson collected 15 points.

Jacob Ingraham netted 11 points.

Juan Brambila and Benjamin Gaut tallied three and two points, respectively.

Ceres High's Malakhi Shimon poured in a team-high 17 points.

Isaiah Alcorn, Jacob Rodriguez and Aaron Delgado contributed 12, 11 and eight points, respectively.

Ashby had three points.

David Valencia added two points.

Shimon helped the Bulldogs build a 29-25 lead in the opening half.

Malakhi tallied 12 points in the first quarter.

Central Valley outscored Ceres High 30-24 during the second half, including 14-8 in the third quarter.
Manor had 13 points.

Kadin's layup put the Hawks ahead by one point, 53-52, with less than one minute to play.

Sarabia's winning basket came 33 seconds after Rodriguez evened the score by making one of two free throws.

"It's a great feeling," Manuel said. "It's hard to explain."
