Six members of Central Valley High School’s swim program qualified for the second day of the Central California Conference Championships last month.

Fernanda Patino, Joellene Roton, Natalie Southavongsa, Kamyla Loza and Alexa Sedano helped lead the Hawks to a sixth-place showing in the girls team standings on April 20 at Golden Valley High School.

Central Valley totaled 49 points on its way to finishing ahead of Livingston (22) and Patterson (5).

Merced (582), El Capitan (541), Buhach Colony (355), Atwater (180) and Golden Valley (128) took first, second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Patino placed third in the 100 breast (1:17.46) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:34.93). 

She set personal records in both events.

Roton placed 12th in the 200 free (2:49.78) and 13th in the 100 back (1:27.15).

She set personal records in both events.

Southavongsa placed 11th in the 100 back (1:23.59).

She set a personal record.

Loza placed 13th in the 100 free (1:21.75).

Sedano placed 14th in the 100 free (1:23.99).

She set a personal record in the prelims (1:22.69).

Phillip Esparza led Central Valley’s boys squad, which totaled five points en route to an eighth-place showing in the team standings.

Merced (500), Buhach Colony (450.5), El Capitan (405), Patterson (203.5), Atwater (174), Golden Valley (102) and Livingston (9) took first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

Esparza set a personal-record while placing 12th in the 100 back (1:16.51).


TRACK & FIELD

Ceres High’s boys and girls track and field programs both finished in the top three in the team standings while competing at the Hal Clements Invitational on April 20 in Bret Harte.

Ceres High’s boys squad totaled 89 points en route to a runner-up finish behind El Dorado (109).

Tokay (77) took third.

Jaiden Boss placed second in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Aaron Lopez placed second in the 3,200 and fourth in the 1,600.

Alexander Vas Dinis placed second in the discus and fifth in the shot put.

Sergio Torres placed second in the 800 and ninth in the 1,600.

AJ Brown placed third in the high jump.

Manny Mendoza placed third in the 400 and sixth in the 200.

Antwan Stevenson placed fourth in the high jump, 10th in the long jump and 18th in the triple jump.

Reis Smith placed fifth in the 400 and eighth in the long jump.

Kyle Phongsa placed fifth in the triple jump and 12th in the long jump.

Alexis Rodriguez placed seventh in the 300 hurdles and 14th in the 400.

Gilbert Nuno placed seventh in the discus and 27th in the 200 and 32nd in the 100.

Calen Adams placed ninth in the pole vault, 12th in the 300 hurdles and 27th in the 100.

Bryan Gallardo placed ninth in the discus and 13th in the shot put.

Martin Bolanos Aleman placed 11th in the 3,200 and 13th in the 800.

Von Tigner placed 13th in the triple jump.

Zion Rochell placed 14th in the shot put.

McCoy Adams placed 14th in the pole vault.

Jesus Madrigal placed 15th in the pole vault.

AJ Brown placed 22nd in the 200.

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Reis Smith, Sergio Torres, Alexis Rodriguez and Manny Mendoza placed third.

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Smith, Mendoza, AJ Brown and Kyle Phongsa placed sixth.

Ceres High’s girls squad totaled 55 points en route to a third-place finish behind Bret Harte (107) and El Dorado (80).

Mariah Zamora placed first in the triple jump, fourth in the 400 and eighth in the long jump.

Ava Montesdeoca placed third in the 100 and 200, and 10th in the triple jump.

Lilly Blevins placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus.

Carmen Arce Hayes placed fifth in the 300 hurdles and 10th in the 100 hurdles.

Alexa Romo placed sixth in the 300 hurdles and 14th in the 100 hurdles.

Izabella Jacquez placed seventh in the discus.

Alanize Moreno placed eighth in the shot put.

Diana Sanchez placed eighth in the discus.

Emily Esparza placed eighth in the 200, 13th in the long jump and 16th in the 100.

Jaden Stahl placed 14th in the 800.

Alyssa Rodriguez placed 15th in the 400.

Alyssa Santillanes placed 16th in the 400.

Joselin Ruiz placed 17th in the long jump.

Kaylee Rodriguez placed 17th in the 200 and 21st in the 100.

Ceres High’s 4x100 throwers relay of Lilly Blevins, Izabella Jacquez, Diana Sanchez and Serena Chalk placed second.

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Kaylee Rodriguez, Carmen Arce Hayes, Emily Esparza and Ava Montesdeoca placed sixth.
