CV’s Gil wraps up season in Folsom

Nicolas Gil took 36th at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-II Frosh-Soph Boys Cross Country Championships.

Central Valley High School’s cross country program had one representative at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships on Nov. 16.

Nicolas Gil raced in the Division-II frosh boys division.

Gil finished 36th overall with a time of 13 minutes, 32 seconds on the 2.1-mile course at Willow Hill Reservoir in Folsom.

“Nico’s hard work and dedication paid off this season,” head coach Veronica Moreno said.

Gil placed 32nd (13:13) at the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section Meet on Nov. 9 at Frogtown in Angels Camp.

He competed at the varsity level during the Central California Conference season, which consisted of three cluster meets.

Gil placed 42nd twice and 43rd once.

His best showing came at the CCC’s third meet.

He posted a time of 18:52 on the 3-mile course at Lake Yosemite Recreation Area.

“Nico is a great athlete,” Moreno said. “He enjoys running. The coaching staff and his teammates are very proud of him.”
