Ceres High's varsity boys water polo team just missed securing a berth to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-II playoffs.

The top two teams in the Western Athletic Conference advanced to the postseason, including Livingston (9-0) and Los Banos (4-5).

Los Banos edged out Ceres High for the WAC's final playoff spot.

The Bulldogs lost the tiebreaker because of their 1-2 head-to-head record versus the Tigers.

"We knew it was going to be us or Los Banos," Ceres High first-year head coach Bill Campbell said. "We had two chances to get in. We just didn't get it done."

Los Banos topped host Ceres High 8-7 on Oct. 24.

Ethan Letras scored a team-high four goals in defeat.

David Johnson had two goals. Caleb Bishop added one goal.

Bulldog goalkeeper Caleb Cannella tallied 18 blocks.

First-place Livingston ended Ceres High's season. The Wolves dominated from beginning to end in posting a 14-6 victory against the visiting Bulldogs on Wednesday.

"Pacheco upset Los Banos," Campbell said. "If we would have beaten Livingston, we would have moved on. I still wish we were playing."

Letras scored twice against senior-laden Livingston. Bishop, Johnson, Vinay Soni and Gary Dodd all contributed one goal.

Cannella and Jacob Black totaled seven and four saves, respectively.
