Central Valley High School's varsity boys tennis team opened the Western Athletic Conference season with back-to-back losses at home this past week.

"The kids played hard," Hawks head coach Mike Rodriguez said. "We just lack experience."

Central Valley lost 7-2 to Livingston on March 2 in Ceres.

The Hawks won one of three doubles and one of six singles matches while competing against the Wolves.

Ivan Jimenez and Alonzo Bustos rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 14-12 victory over Luis Muniz-Garcia and San Kang in No. 3 doubles play.

Jesus Cuevas defeated Edgar Salas 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 in No. 5 singles play.

Ruben Morales lost 6-2, 6-1 to Alex Mercado in No. 1 singles play.

Henry Garcia lost 6-2, 6-4 to Angel Ramirez in No. 2 singles play.

Rogelio Perez lost 6-2, 6-1 to Isaias Cortes in No. 3 singles play.

Juan Zaragoza lost 6-1, 6-4 to Enrique Medina in No. 4 singles play.

Adrian Gomez lost 6-1, 6-2 to Kevin Castro in No. 6 singles play.

Roman Ortiz and Daniel Garrido lost 6-1, 7-5 to Emmanuel Jimenez and Diego Jimenez in No. 1 doubles play.

Ralph Afortunado and Gurshan Chahal lost 3-6, 6-1, 10-3 to Harjot Sidhu and Michael Leon in No. 2 doubles play.

Visiting Patterson shut out Central Valley 9-0 on March 3.
