Central Valley High School's varsity wrestling team continued its dual-meet dominance.

The Hawks improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference after beating Pacheco 50-24 on Jan. 8 in Ceres.

"It's a great start," head coach Rob Beckhart said. "I'm pretty proud of what they've been able to do. Our biggest test has yet to come and that's Central Catholic. We have a little more than a week to prepare for that dual."

Down 21-18, Central Valley swept six of the dual's final seven matches.

"It was exciting," Beckhart said. "There was a lot of cheering coming from the stands."

Rick Brown, Jonathan Robinson, Cristian Garcia, Jose Castillo, Michael Manzur, Christian Oliver, Adrian Vizcaino, Ethan Rotondo and Severo Vazquez all won their respective matches against the Panthers (0-3).

Brown won by pin (0:51) over Johnny Del Rio at 170 pounds.

Robinson won by pin (1:02) over Miguel Barrera at 113 pounds.

Garcia won by pin (2:09) over Jon Huerta at 152 pounds.

Castillo won by pin (2:24) over Anthony Gonzalez at 145 pounds.

Manzur won by major decision (13-0) over Christian Grijalva at 126 pounds.

Oliver won by major decision (10-0) over Aroon Sarwari at 120 pounds.

Vizcaino, Rotondo and Vazquez won by forfeit at 182, 106 and 138 pounds, respectively.

Eddy Nunez lost by decision (8-6) to Ruben Rocha at 160 pounds.

Navjot Singh lost by decision (7-5) to Martin Perez at 132 pounds.

Jose Medina lost by pin (3:41) to Joseph Coronado at 285 pounds.

Cesar Yepiz lost by pin (3:16) to Nick Vermillon at 220 pounds.

Jason Beckhart lost by pin (3:13) to Javier Gonzales at 195 pounds.

"For the most part, the dual went exactly as expected," coach Beckhart said.

JUNIOR VARSITY
Central Valley High School's junior-varsity wrestling squad kept its perfect record intact with a 36-21 win versus Pacheco.

The Hawks improved to 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in the WAC.

Luis Torres won by pin (1:09) against Colten Webster at 170 pounds.

Adrian Badillo won by pin (1:44) against Anthony Quijano at 195 pounds.

Gabriel Martinez won by pin (2:32) against Gabriel Casarez at 160 pounds.

Abel Garcia won by decision (7-2) against Rick Huse at 138 pounds.

Jonathan Smith won by decision (18-14) against Luciano Bermudez at 152 pounds.

Ricardo Briseno won by forfeit at 120 pounds.

Alex Alvarado won by forfeit at 145 pounds.
Lexy Cordova lost by decision (6-0) to Miranda Lomela at 132 pounds.

Brian Sanchez lost by pin (0:20) to Jon Lang at 182 pounds.
